Rock God Artwork

My first magazine cover was published at the age of 21, the beginning of a career in print that took in illustration, design, art directing, retouching, even editing. I travelled, and photography entered the picture (not wanting to fill my rucksack with paint and paper). My love of travel never dimmed, and this exposure to ‘different’ nourished me and fed into my work. My paintings displayed a certain level of skill, but it was decades before I produced one that cemented my approach - a messy oil portrait of Laurel and Hardy with Hardy's infamous phrase applied and used for the title, 'Another Nice Mess' (which can be viewed on my site). It encapsulated my intent - make a mess, but make it pretty. Discordant elements creating harmony.
