About The Artwork
I was inspired to paint this picture in response to the ongoing hostage situation. It is not a statement of support for the war or the actions of the Israeli government. As a man who believes strongly in non-violence, all war is abhorrent to me. However, lost in the noise of angry protests by people in the West, there is still a large number of people, mostly young women held in captivity and suffering violence at the hands of a terrorist organisation with the assistance of a United Nations agency whose stated purpose is to serve refugees but has become a tool in a war of annihilation. This painting is dedicated to all the hostages, their families, and indeed all victims of sexual violence.
