About The Artwork

This is a colourful caprice made to drive away grey days and bring warmth and vigour into your life. It’s a vibrant and powerful abstract expression, based on strong reds and volatile violets. I work mainly with soft pastels. The slow process of shaping layer upon layer of pastel chalk suits my working mode well. It challenges me to be selective and deliberate in how I build up the compositions and ensure that the colors remain the central focus of each artwork. The colors are the starting point, starting by choosing colors that inspire and are interesting. I like the feel of the dusty pigments and use my hands and fingers to rub the colors into the paper, to mix and shape, adding and subtracting until the vision is captured on paper.

" I WEAVE COLOURS INTO COLOUR POETRY AND MEMORIES TO LYRICAL LANDSCAPES" "My lifelong passion with colour unfolds itself in my artwork. For as long back as I remember I have colour memories, images like this one of my grandma standing white-haired in her summer garden between pink roses and greenery with her light blue apron gently waving in the breeze. I perceive much of my surroundings through colour and experience nature often as an abstract imagery. Beautiful colours, vibrant or soothing, surprising and fun, all of them wherever they appear continue to fascinate and inspire me to create colourful artworks. I work intuitively and from memories, preferring to create a series of paintings from the same inception.  I live and work on the West coast of Norway with the North Sea at one side and Fjords on the other. I want to convey my perception of these old landscapes to the viewer, to visualise the abundant beauty and vulnerability of this nature through the veil of memories and the vibrancy of the colours. I like to capture moody moments and express its calm and serene greatness. These lyrical landscapes are not pictures of actual places, they are made from memories and one could call them soulmoods, as they express emotions and a state of mind as much as a landscape" Kristin Holm Dybvig is a Norwegian artist, educated in England, she live and work at the West Coast of Norway.
