David Lang is an artist from the United States based in Vietnam working in traditional charcoal on giấy dó (handmade paper). Check out one of my exhibition EBooks here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_-yqjNtitNLCd6MM_77hwwewuPI-JMSn/view?usp=sharing His art is based on the everyday lifestyles of various ethnic groups in Vietnam, typically those in the north such as the Dao, H’Mông, and Pà Thẻn. He draws interpersonal relationships and wants to understand how people get, and don’t get, along. His rustic artworks are crafted to feel old, earthy, and traditional. Some materials that he uses sparingly are graphite, acetone, ink, and color highlights from chalk, acrylics, and watercolor. David graduated from Bard College with an interdisciplinary major in 2009 in the arts and now works from a private art studio in Saigon. My works are housed in private and public galleries in Vietnam, Thailand, Germany, and the United States.
