Jean-Michel Basquiat had a short and prolific career that elevated the art form of street art and greatly influenced modern and contemporary art. Basquiat reached an unprecedented level of fame at just 20 years old. Brownson Daniel born and brought up in Lagos Nigeria, and was inspired to draw by his neighbour at a very young age. In due course, he studied Visual Arts and Technology at Cross River University of Technology, Calabar, Nigeria. As an artist, I work hard to produce paintings that speak both to me and others about the beauty that exists around us. My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the ideas that I have about myself and the world I find myself and issues that affect contemporary living, from the cultural, social, political perspectives. The images I produce are things I see daily. I see people trying to find ways to have fun and make money, violence in our neighborhood, poverty and the once to be hopeful for. I want people to also realize and see that we are surrounded by the good, the bad and the ugly. I do not merely want to capture the image with my brushes; rather with careful and colorful strokes. My works are carriers of messages, not only to me, but to viewers who are also willing to see. Brownson was tutored by one of the great Nigerian northern and horse painter Abdulsalam Abdulkareem and was greatly inspired by the works of great , Segun Adejumo, Ibe Ananaba and other masters such as, Vincent Van Gogh, Voka and Pablo Picasso. Brown is a full-time Artist and currently based in Lagos, Nigeria.
