High Low Installation

High Low is an experimental project concerning changes of art work value in time. I asked a curator to evaluate a series of paintings „A Good Vintage” painted just for this project. After that I buried the paintings in the garden where I let them for four weeks. I did my project by the idea of burying a bottle of brandy in the ground, as it is a good custom, which is dug out at an important occasion. After three weeks I dug some paintings out and got them evaluated again by the curator. To keep objectivity I did not tell her about my intention ahead. The project was a research how the accelerated ageing in the ground and my conceptual step influences the value of the artwork itself. I painted a series of landscapes for this project and called it „A Good Vintage“. It consists of five paintings. Their subject-matters are places I am bound to by an intensive emotional tie. They have become a sort of visual records from my journeys and my childhood memories. The act of burying them in my family garden and their stay in the ground represented a possibility to imprint them with so called place magic and my family history. It enriched the content level and changed values of the paintings. “Like a Good Vintage”: Waterworks, oil on canvas I am on my way, oil on canvas Cement factory, oil on canvas Final installation consists of two parts. One of them is created by glass-boxes containing unearthed paintings and the other of expert testimonies, e-mails with curators, a poster and order numbers from the public evaluating of the artworks in the gallery.
