About The Artwork

Many years ago during the late 1960thies I was a young fashion designer ,and I use to often go to Christies auction room in South Kensington- London to view the weekly sale of paintings.I liked collecting Art. As It was even then not easy to find parking space in this part of London so I started parking in Reece mews just opposite the saleroom in front what it looked like converted coach house. Second or third time when I did this a grumpy looking male came out and told me I cant park there in front of his house, but after couple of minutes of conversation he reluctantly allowed me to leave the car there. So this became my secret spot where to park in the future and the grumpy men who always looked like he had heavy night of drinking with his friends sometimes came out and we had a small chat and he eventually asked me about what I do, He invited me in and I realized its an artist studio and he introduced himself as Francis Bacon, there where paints and paintings everywhere I loved the smell of it all,one can tell this was pure passion and Love of Art.As I was doing some painting myself I appreciated the whole experience. Then few weeks later he came to my store in Kensington market and bought a black leather jacket. and as I liked jazz and would go to Ronnie Scotts club in Soho and Francis was often there, we had few drinks occasionaly. As we all know Francis Bacon only painted paintings and I pondered often what would he produce if he ever tried a sculpture,so I started doing life size figure of Francis Bacon out of recycling materials, plastic, cardboard, insulaltion boards and with special foam I started moulding different parts of the body which took for ever,it was all giant experiment. It took me 3 years until I completed it and made it look like a grumpy person I remember which greeted me all those years in front of his house . And maybe he would of been pleased that I paid a hommage to him.Thank you Francis Bacon you where a kind person to me.Asta Lavista.

Zeljko Lah in his early days was an artist and fashion designer in London during the late 1960-early1970’s, well known for designing Rock and Roll style of clothing and some of his clients included Frank Zappa, Santana, Queen, Deep Purple, Black Sabath,Andy Warhol, Hockney,Bacon Jimmy Hendrix and many others. Some of the shoes and outfits he designed are displayed in Hard Rock cafes and certain Museums.During this period he produced Pop Art artwork and exhibited in group shows in London and Paris. In the 1980’s he became an art dealer specializing in paintings from 1900 -1950’s, but his love of art was never too far and in 2010 he started again, painting, sculpting and designing installations using mostly recycling materials. He calls his sculptures Insulation Art,and has a registred trade mark Art Recyclage. His style is a cross between Abstract Impressionism and Modern Pop Art. Often the painting and sculpture merge into one. He also coined the phrase ‘PopKorny Art’, which has elements of his ‘tongue in cheek’ view of love and the life around us and expresses a symbolistic take on modern life. Zeljko believes that Art should be Fun. His main modus operandi is Art from the Heart, as he follows his natural talent and instinctively works on each project with an open mind and spontaneous improvisation, with the end result often a surprise. The artist lives and workes in several places Belgium,Slovenia,Florida. His Art has been sold at International auctions as shown on Askart.ArtPrice,Google, and also at Miami Basel,Palm Beach Art shows. The highest price for one of his installations was achived at an auction in Germany in May 2021 of apr. $55.000.
