This interpretation of a log cabin quilted square is in the centre of this work, with the little red square that traditionally symbolises the hearth and heart. I am interested in thinking about ideas of production, the limits that restrict or enable what can appear and what is valued. What effect does the limiting of feminine and culturally associated qualities have on what is and how is wellbeing affected by imbalance. This is an ongoing exploration for me and these ideas are the through flow that background this sculpture. This is an irregular stuffed and droopy work in Linen, cotton and thread. 31cm x 31cm. It has two little fabric loops to the rear for hanging.

I am an artist based in rural Scotland. My materials are diverse and include film, cloth and paint. Painting for me is a way to be in the flow, in the now of things. I am lucky to live in an amazing rural landscape. Mountains, field and forest on my doorstep. There is beauty and rawness edged by community. I love witnessing the interactions and seasonal change. I have been filming and painting here for a long time Making is my way of processing thoughts and thinking again. My film work is a way of finding thinking on the edge of what I understand, already in the world, A pattern match in reality of something I am grasping at the edge of in thought, Ready articulated in the world, externalised in a way that I can more fully appreciate it.
