Di Henry is a threat artist based in Sydney, Australia. Di transforms her own images or vintage photographs and images through 3- dimensional thread to create a new perspective and narrative, questioning identity and personnel connections. Utilising cherished photos of people's history, past fashion and icons, pop culture characters, the Queen, postage stamps, flora and fauna and more more as inspiration. Di fabricates pieces that serves to brighten the linen canvas. She sees the potential hidden within images. Despite sometimes, their black and white compositions, she perceives a world full of colour and whimsicality within the subject of the image. Painting with thread and especially variegated and metallic thread means that there are also surprises, a bit like visiting the past and imaging the future.
