About The Artwork

This piece is based on the colours found in the Orion Nebula combined with embroidery. The image is an archival print of a glass plate image from 1901 taken at the Yerkes Observatory. Details of the piece 25/23cm (unframed) This is an original piece, embroidered by hand by me in my studio. The piece is printed on Fine Art Pearl 325gsm paper which gives the image great pictorial depth and contrast. Every piece is printed to archival standard quality. Framing This work is framed in a black box frame with a floating foam core mount with Art Glass/Conservation which will ensure the longevity of the artwork.

Hannah Pratt (UK artist born 1988) explores the relationship between art and science. Her practice centres around astronomy, space travel, data literacy, and climate change. Hannah’s practice encompasses a wide range of mediums, including painting, drawing, textiles, and printing. She has always drawn inspiration from science, science fiction and art as a way to make sense of the world around her. She is a proud neurodiverse artist and has always used many different techniques and materials to make her work depending on the subject matter. Currently, Hannah is working with textiles due to the potential of the materials. Throughout her career as an artist, Hannah has exhibited extensively and participated in various residencies most notably, her work was launched into space as part of the Art in Space program by Planet Labs. Furthermore, she collaborates with a diverse array of creative practitioners, including musicians and other visual artists, to create a library of responses to contemporary science.
