About The Artwork

The Uath Lochans are a group of four small lochs glimpsed through the pines of Glen Feshie in the Cairngorms of Scotland. The Gaelic name 'Uath Lochans' means the 'hawthorn small lochs'. A 'lochan' is a small loch. For a non-Gaelic speaker the pronunciation is 'Wah Lochans' but you can find how the locals say it online. Mixed media collage on archival paper using acrylic paint on acid-free tissue paper and highlights of conté crayons. Each piece of paper is coated on both sides with a layer of Golden soft gel medium. The picture has been given a final layer of protection with Golden UV satin varnish. Signed on the front and on the reverse with description and title. Picture dimensions: 14 x 9" (356 x 229mm) The picture is intended to be displayed in a frame. External dimensions of paper to fit a standard frame: 16 x 12” (406 x 305 mm)

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

You’ll usually see me thinking about composition, playing with pattern and testing spatial relationships, that sort of thing. As for anything else I think about how it affects all the above. I enjoy looking for unlikely structures and trying out fleeting interractions. The question of balance is never far away. When it comes to meaning, the torn and faded materials in my collages show where man has been. I suppose everything reflects an unidealised view of humanity. But I’m also attracted to the opposite, the wide expanses of nature (especially the sea) where there’s not much humanity at all. My influences may not be apparent… I keep coming back to Cézanne and Matisse.
