About The Artwork
This was painted during the COVID pandemic, depicting a mask not on the figure's mouth, but on her eyes, to represent the population's blindness. During COVID, most people felt blindsided politically, mentally, or emotionally, but one thing united us all: no one could see what was going to happen next. I made the figure someone who might appear otherwise beautiful, sleek, and fashionable, with red lips and a swan-like neck. However, she sees nothing, and because of her mask it's up to the viewer to guess what she could be feeling.
