About The Artwork
I based the figure in this painting titled A Golden Summer on a drawing I made of Aristide Maillol's L'Été. I integrated it with a watercolor study from nature. I altered the face and hair to make the figure more contemporary. I find working from sculpture very satisfying. It adds strength to the nudes in my work while allowing me to celebrate the great artists I admire.
