About The Artwork

I remember the day I painted this quite well. I woke up feeling this fire of inspiration because I had recently been looking at Cecily Brown's work. I don't think I even ate breakfast, I just rushed to the studio and began working. The resulting image you see here just sort of flew out of me. I began in a totally free state, by attacking the canvas with color. At a certain point I started to dial it in to a more cohesive composition. I painted this alongside another canvas of the same size, which sold to a local collector in 2017.
