About The Artwork

In Amsterdam the underground transport is underwater rather than underground since, as everyone knows, the sea level is higher than that of the mainland. In fact you can see that there is the sea above the land, with the tunnels in the water that look like snakes, and the trains set up like this, also look like snakes. The drivers -everyone is saying it- are vipers! Further down there are the individual tunnels. These are underground, and there the non-gregarious ones circulate, special people, what they call the VIPs: the Dutch architect - ecologist, who set up the "green" room at the Bank of Milan, that very famous and imaginative surgeon doctor who graduated in Houston, Texas, those intellectuals who are "very heady", or that distinguished, very rich gentleman who goes downtown every day, not for work or necessity, but for the therapeutic effect.

I’m an artist/architect who, upon thinking about the blessings of what has been a full, productive life, is proud to say that he’s remained a child much of his time. I’m a representational artist but not one out to replicate subject matter in ways true to life. I’m more the dissembler, and enjoy combining incongruent elements in whimsical ways, sometimes humorously to reflect the pleasure that comes with discovering new things. I avoid planning ahead in favor of letting the process lead the way. While listening to the music, I’m never happier than when painting away, adding bits of wood, cloth, string, or anything else that’s handy to finally define something that’s the sum of its parts. I’m a narrative artist who makes stuff to tell stories. I’ve tried to be honest by developing my own visual language in hopes of encouraging onlookers to consider other realities. While I’ve enjoyed the recognition that has come my way, I’ve treasured the privilege of living an artful life.
