About The Artwork
When it struck in 1992, Hurricane Andrew was the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history, leaving 177,000 people homeless and 65 dead. The worst hurricane to ever hit Florida, Andrew is one of only four hurricanes to make landfall in the United States as a Category 5. In this series, instead of conventional brushes, I use my fingers which allow me to feel the texture of the paint and surface tension in order to produce a sense of motion through swirling patterns on the canvas. The visual appeal of radar imagery illustrates the beauty in destruction.
