Corteccia Painting

My recent artistic research takes shape with a series of works on canvas and paper, in which I try to enhance the harmony between shapes and colors. The latter, by tone purely warm, they want to be a reminder of the shades of autumn and the earth. The various shades of brown in particular, which oscillate from a sienna to a burnt umber, through the memories of the ground and the bark of trees are for me an expression of love for one's own origins. A particular and constant aspect of these works is the presence of a texture created through the use of river sand that wants to be an integral part of the reconnection to nature as well as wanting give a three-dimensionality to the picture. In some cases the sand, as well as being positioned initially on the canvas to create a support before starting to paint, it is mixed with colors themselves (all colors used are acrylics) and juxtaposed onto the carrier layer to accentuate yet another plus three dimensions.
