"Coup" addresses the question of how do women embrace attributes of assertion and aggression - which are traditionally male - without losing their femininity. I use the penis to represent the "male" attributes and the skirt to represent femininity. The subject doesn't need to lop off mens' penises (assertive energy,) she can grow her own.

I am a Catskill, New York–based painter working in oils.
