Detail
This work is inspired by 2020, the impacts of lockdown and a powerful creative energy. The work tries to express the physical nature of this year, the shift in the way we live, the way we communicate and our feeling of community. Theres a lot to consider in this painting, a sadness and sorrow that gives it an undercurrent of thought and emotion.
It also becomes a celebration of painting and colour, and a little dash of hope.

Having graduated from Norwich University of the Arts in 2014 with an MA in Fine Art (BA Hons Fine Art 2013), I have since been producing and showing predominantly large scale abstract paintings in LA, London and Norwich. My practice is rooted in the description of emotion that has no place within the written or verbal language. Through paint, I try to capture the day to day, focusing on the things that we see all the time, often unnoticed or that we simply gloss over but are in themselves beautiful objects or moments. For years my work was conceptual, distilling colours, movements and marks down to the essentials. As I’ve grown, so has my work. Paintings now are full of colour, marks and joy. They are sponges for all that life contains, and as such are sometimes fraught with anger, worries or happiness. Sometimes you can tell what the painting is of, sometimes you can’t. That’s the joy of it all. On occasion its probably actually a drawing. I was selected as the Axis Web MA Star for NUA (2014), I have been seen in British Vogue and Aesthetica Magazine, hold work in the NUA permanent collection and look forward to developing my practice as a artist over the coming years. 2014 MA Fine Art - Norwich University of the Arts 2013 BA Hons Fine Art - Norwich University of the Arts
