East End Olympians Painting

Born 1951, Colorado Springs, CO. There seemed to be a lot of pressure, in my mind at least, on an art school student (Rhode Island School of Design 1975) to produce art that is full of ideas -- big ideas, new ideas, radical ideas! To my chagrin but ultimately to my relief, I realized that I really did not have any big ideas. At most, I paint pictures that might be about the remarkable confidence we have (and need to have) when we appear semi-clothed or unclothed out-of-doors, despite our vulnerability. (Or is that just me?) Certainly the ancient gods have been often depicted nude or nearly so because they are the supreme expression of self-confidence.Or the pictures might only be about the transient pleasures of water and sand on a sunny day. Life is better at the beach or next to a pool. See you there!
