Eguzkilore Painting

This work was inspired by carlina acauris, "eguzkilore" in Basque, which is a traditional Basque symbol and folklore element. Since I live in the Basque country and often travel around the Basque villages, I see this flower traditionally hung on the front door of Basque homes to ward off evil spirits, particularly witches and malevolent forces. It is also known as "Flower of the Sun" in the Basque language. In Basque culture, it is believed that "eguzkilore" possesses protective properties and can safeguard the household from negative influences. I hope that the texture paste used in the painting will make people feel the roughness of its texture and at the same moment it will inspire calmness.
