Emory Douglas - Minister of Culture The Black Panther Party’s Oakland chapter’s 55th anniversary is coming up, and they have asked me to do a few paintings that represent some of the principles of the party. I decided to paint around this years core message, Educate To Liberate. Since I don’t do a lot of collage work, I thought it would be cool to collage some of the historical photos of some Panthers educating the youth. Having the Panther flag flying in the background was a must, and plenty of rhythmic movement and bold texture. Front and center we have the original Minister of Culture Emory Douglas, he was, and still is the original artist of 90% of all the artwork that the panther party put out. The exhibition of this artwork has been outstanding and I’ve had some great conversations surrounding it. I hope you too enjoy this carefully crafted artwork and the richness of the history it brings. • Acrylic Painting on Stretched Wooden Pegboard Frame and Industrial Cotton Canvas • 36" H x 48" W x 1.5" D | 92 cm H x 122 cm W x 4 cm • Ready To Hang With Wire And D-Rings • Painting Signed In Lower Left Front And Also On The Lower Left Back • A signed Certificate of Authenticity from my studio will be included with this painting and all the materials that were used to complete it. • The Finish: Gloss Archival Varnish with UV Protection • Edges: The orange edges are an identifying trait that signifies this is an original artwork of mine, and the warm tone complements the body of the painting design. You can expect to find my signature orange edges on every original painting that I create. Please contact me if you have any questions about this artwork or any other one of my paintings! I am a second generation expressionist painter with a focus on creating paintings that embody movement, energy, and luminous light. My work puts cognitive thinking in the foreground, letting the viewer discover things along the way. I paint each artwork with a mix of expressionism and abstraction, with bold, colorful flowing lines. These works retell history, bringing back special people and places that have been misplaced, forgotten or unknown. I am interested in awakening cognitive thought, harnessing creative energy and to research the limits of universal thinking.
