About The Artwork
This woman posed for me and the stance of her in the chair reminded me that women struggle in all walks of life. In her case, I added the barbed wire to show that she became ensnared by the vicissitudes of society. It further shows that her left arm is very loosely wrapped, which means she could release herself easily, but her demeanor shows she is conditioned by society and chooses to remain in the ensnared state.

Originally from New Jersey, I studied at The Art Students League in New York, then the Ridgewood Art Center in New Jersey where I studied with Arthur Maynard, a prior student of Francis Vincent DeMond. I moved to Southern California in 1989. I've taken workshops with David Leffel, Everett Raymond Kinstler, Wolf Kahn, Marybeth Mackenzie, and many other notable artists. I worked as a financial advisor for 30 years, then retired in July of 2019 so I could devote my time to art.
