This painting, titled "Flying Away" from the art cycle Xantea, is an intricate composition filled with vivid imagery and symbolism. It takes inspiration from Sandro Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" but reinterprets it within a psychedelic sci-fi fantasy setting, where the central figures are not deities of classical myth but rather two robots ascending from a war-torn landscape. The backdrop of the scene is reminiscent of a cosmic event, with celestial bodies and bursts of stardust creating a dramatic skyline. The robots, which hold a central position akin to Venus in Botticelli's work, are depicted amidst flight, conveying a sense of escape or transcendence. They are elegantly poised, with the robot on the right embodying the iconic pose of Venus, bringing a sense of classical beauty to the futuristic tableau. Below them, the war on Xantea unfolds. The landscape is marked by checkerboard patterns that evoke a game-like or virtual reality, suggesting that the conflict might be part of a larger, possibly orchestrated, scenario. Creatures and figures are engaged in dynamic activities; some appear to be fighting while others are in various states of motion, contributing to the overall sense of chaos and urgency from which the central robots are flying away.
