About The Artwork
This is part of a grid painted and collage series of 20" x 20". I select the color palette and then I dye folded Japanese and household papers in bright colors in order to come up with unusual patterns. I then decide how to organize these pieces on a grid and continue with acrylic paint to combine them into a harmonious whole. This piece was inspired by an Ancient Armenia exhibit I saw at the Met. There I saw fascinating writing on gold and on stone slabs. These messages were coming from afar and indecipherable to me. I think of this as an archaeological piece in the series.
