Future Dreams Painting

"Future Dreams" was created just shortly after I moved to my own home after my divorce. When you've been married for 25 years, you don't really have any future dreams of your own. They all include that person. So during this time, I was working hard to come up with a new future of my own. One that was for me and included the life I wanted to live going forward. I created this painting when I was dreaming up all the new dreams I had for myself and my own life. It was exciting, and yet scary at the same time. I think the color palette of this piece reflects those feelings well. "After experiencing traumatic life change during the 2020, I have used my art as a way to express my inner feelings and process the world through my new lenses of seeing the world. Through the action of painting, I bring beauty into the world, which heals my soul. My paintings brings positive energy and beauty to the piece's final destination, and that improves the world one painting at a time." When creating my paintings, I start with words of affirmation or prayers for the day along with automatic drawing. I then choose colors that inspire me to build movement and texture using many types of mark making tools or media to get the affects I am looking for ie. graphite, pastel, artist crayons, etc. As the painting progresses, I see a composition that I want to explore and will continue this process until the painting feels satisfied. I finish all paintings with satin varnish to unify the finish and protect the painting from dirt and UV light. This painting is on stretched canvas and is 1.5" gallery wrapped with a white painted edge. It is pre-strung for hanging and will include the hanging hardware. The painting is signed by the artist on the back and side.
