About The Artwork
I loved the texture and colour of this weathered gatepost standing like a monument. I came across this when I was walking in the beautiful countryside of Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Painting it I wanted to show the post as a monument, I really loved the colours & textures of the weathered wood, basically an old black railway sleeper but showing combinations of purple, blue & green. As ever I love contrast of light & shade, shadows cast, vegetation emerging out of darkness. Acrylics fell the best choice of medium.
