About The Artwork

Inspired by the timeless elegance and mystery of traditional Japanese culture, this painting captures the serene back view of a geisha holding a vibrant red umbrella. The choice to depict only the back of her figure invites viewers to imagine the story and emotions hidden behind her poised stance. The striking contrast between the rich red of the umbrella and the subtle hues of her kimono highlights her graceful presence against the simplicity of the background. Through this work, I hope viewers will feel a sense of calm and introspection, while also appreciating the delicate beauty and intricate artistry that defines the world of the geisha. I chose this subject matter and style to blend realism with a hint of abstraction, allowing the viewer's imagination to fill in the details. The medium, carefully selected to enhance the textures and colors, aims to evoke a tactile sense of tradition and elegance.

I am a visual artist based in Athens, Greece. My work is characterized by a unique blend of traditional and modern techniques, which I employ to explore themes such as memory, identity, and the human condition. My work often incorporates a variety of media, including drawing, painting, and installation, which allows me to create layered, textured works that are both visually compelling and conceptually rich. One of my most significant themes is memory and I frequently explore this theme through my work. I am interested in how memories are formed and how they are linked to personal and collective identity. My work often incorporates found objects and materials, such as photographs, maps, and books, which Ι use to create collages and installations that evoke a sense of nostalgia and the passage of time. Another significant theme in my work is the human condition. I am interested in the ways in which people navigate the complexities of the modern world, and I explore this through my use of symbolism and metaphor. Many of my works depict figures in various states of vulnerability or isolation, suggesting a sense of alienation and disconnection. Overall, I am happy that my work engages with some of the most pressing issues of our time. Portfolio link: https://www.behance.net/theodoram
