''Girlscouts'', is inspired by Teen Thriller, teen sleuth/adventure/sci-fi genres, seen time and time again in American popular culture, for example Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Twilight, Riverdale to name a few. ''Girlscouts'' is part of a series of paintings that features teens and youth in situations inspired by teen hero/anti hero narratives from American popular culture. This body of work is the latest of a lifelong collaboration with the younger members of my immediate and extended family. Gesture and facial expression are exploited as a means to express the individual's personal journey within the greater context of society at large. Painted in bright hues in high quality oil on canvas. It will come rolled in a tube, to reduce shipping costs. Please allow 5 to ten business days turnaround for packing and shipping.

Born in California, Mary Hayes has a BFA in Visual Arts from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. She has had several solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in, Quebec, Canada and the United States, and is a recipient of grants from both Quebec and Canada Arts Councils. Hayes' work can be found in private and public collections, such as the Art Bank of the Canada Council, Loto Quebec, La Grande Bibliothèque du Québec and the Musée du Québec. Hayes lives and works in Montreal.
