About The Artwork

The plot of "Good Friday" was created on the eve of Christmas 2023 and is associated with the beginning of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023. Because of the incident, many Jews were forced to temporarily leave their native lands. Memories from childhood suddenly surfaced in my memory. Heartfelt stories of my grandfather, who was captured near Ukraine in 1941 and sent to the German concentration camp Baranovichi, where he stayed almost until the end of the war. This painting was awarded: HONORABLE MENTION AWARD “OPEN” Juried International Art Comprtition, USA, LA, TERAVARNA, 2024

Vladimir Shir is an artist led by God. Vladimir was born in an ancient Russian city on the Volga in 1984, into a family of old aristocratic heritage. In his youth he attended the School of Art and was repeatedly noted as a person endowed with a gift, having talent from birth and feeling this world with spiritual matters. Starting from the age of 5-6 years, his drawings of Vladimir were distributed in private collections, including not only Russia, but also Europe and the USA. During his school years, Vladimir was brought up in a gymnasium for gifted children from the Red Cross Society in a medical and biological class. In high school, he was able to simultaneously enroll as an external student at the Medical Institute and complete almost two year-long courses of study. However, after graduating from school, he did not continue to study to become a military surgeon, and instead graduated with honors from the Engineering, Marketing, Legal and Psychology faculties of different Universities. Then he was engaged in business development, worked for more than 10 years as a free practicing psychologist, and helped thousands of people in the most difficult situations related to violence against women and the prevention of child suicide. At the same time, he gained worldwide popularity as a seer, exorcist and mystic expert. There are many legends about Vladimir among the people as an interlocutor of God and a sage, and these legends are based on real events and miracles performed, after which he received the nickname “God’s Finger” All these years, Vladimir did not pick up a brush, and by the age of 33 he began to gradually return to art. It started with studying jewelry and opening his first jewelry workshop in Moscow, and then plunged headlong into painting. Anticipating difficult times and repression in the country, in January 2020, Vladimir distributed and donated all his property and left Russia with loved ones and his little son. During the year, having traveled to many countries, he stopped in France. The hardest days and nights of struggle for his life and the life of his family, during 3 years in exile, did not break him, but, on the contrary, strengthened in this rebellious man the iron Will and inexorable desire to create Art. For a person who has actually lost everything that he strived for and got used to, putting in effort for decades, evil times have come.
