Gravity Painting

From the Mars series. In the center of the canvas, a calm, peaceful-looking portrait hides a dynamic, chaotic gesture and aesthetic. Like the natural principle found in space, through gravity, around a large central element, smaller ones gravitate by magnetism (a planet and its moons). This refers to the information that can gravitate in an individual's subconscious in relation to the information received in society. This work speaks of the environment and space, seeking a balance between calm and chaos. The chaos inspired by my hometown (Kinshasa) is represented here by gesture, movement, random lines and stains. Combined with the use of everyday elements (magazines and newspapers). Lines are constructed and deconstructed; magazine sheets are torn and glued together in a random fashion, revealing a universal language that translates the decomposed expression of a consumer society.
