About The Artwork
60x48x1.5” Acrylic, mixed media collaged on unframed canvas. Harvest a fennel flower, and it wilts right away. Here I’m using the fennel flower as a symbolic reminder to seize the day, or seize your favorite season (mine is fall). The typography spells “I O U” as an expression of gratitude. Exploring a new autumn color palette, the delicious orange-raspberry shade is welcoming and warm. The new age light purplish-gray is suggestive of the mystical healing power of crystals, and has a soft, relaxing spiritual sensibility. The sky blue represents the way the angle of light change this time of year. And the Savannah green and classic ochre illuminate and inspire. The geometric laser print transfers of diamonds and morse code add a graphic quality which is juxtaposed against distressed paint and gestural sgraffito, where the top layers of acrylic paint are scratched away and removed to reveal the layers of color beneath.

As an artist and designer, I've always relished the challenge of turning nothing into something. My art is where spontaneity and careful planning coexist, a reflection of my journey from design to the canvas. Drawing inspiration from contemporaries and the great artists like Frankenthaler, Matisse and Rauschenberg, I navigate the realms of abstract expressionism and mixed media collage. With acrylics, ink, and found objects, I craft pieces that invite joy and provoke curiosity. Each creation is a dialogue, offering layers of texture, color, pattern and form for the viewer to explore. My approach is dual-natured: vibrant and unrestrained at times, deliberate and nuanced at others. Whether through bold color play or intricate patterns, cutting up and rearranging, my work seeks to engage, connect, and enliven. Recent highlights include a solo show at a local gallery and participation in a juried group show, where I received an Honorable Mention by the juror from the Camp Gallery in Miami. My work has been featured in British Vogue and I am collaborating with Anthropologie for some prints.
