This painting is a depiction of the Sorrowful Mary, who carried with her the 7 sorrows. In my translation, the sorrowful heart represents the suffering that exists in this world, especially of late. War, mass shootings, racism, human rights infringments and more weigh heavy on my heart, so during these times, I turn to the Holy Divine Feminine for solace and healing. This painting is a representation of the Holy Mother and sorrowful heart inspired by Byzantine Iconography, but adapted to my own personal expression.
