About The Artwork

Horizon reflects the space of the artist and the outer space; the visible boundary between thought and nature, much like the earth and the sky. So, these works made on recycled linen - old curtains from a theatre - were given a new life by the artist Tim Madeira. These dischargeable material, no longer useful to its original purpose, regained a new horizon; an opportunity to become a surface (earth) where the act of aesthetic experiences intertwine – patterns, geometry, stains, dashes, brush strokes, collages, black and white contrasts, expressive and curvy organic forms, textures, bring that sense of rebirth; a notion that all artists have: to be regenerators of new ideas, new realities and dimensions.Black geometric forms with white contrasts that give the pieces a contemporary look and feel. Very decorative and balanced monochromatic compositions. Use of collages of different papers. Ink stains that give the light and shadow atmosphere, specially the white and the greyish ones. Different patterns are created, geometry of space that brings great textures.

Being an artist is a necessity since i was a little boy. I always drew and painted anywhere, and i would offer specially to my grandmother. Even in the bath tub i used to mix materials and pigments and create different concoctions in the water. Painting is part of my ADN. So every material that i can reuse/use/recycle or avail is always a motive to produce an art work. My style is mainly abstract because it allows me to be absolutely free and explore infinitely all the material potentials. The stain accident guides me into my work process. My favorite mediums are water based paint, resine coats, crayons and graffiti. I also adore to do collaborative work with other artists where i can have the sensation of work layers, different inspiration approaches, etc... Mixed media, collages, acrylics (water based) on paper, canvas and fabric. I often do preparatory works on paper and canvas that are cut to patch in other backgrounds. - If one gets to describe the artist Tim Madeira in a sentence it would be: "Compulsive artist who can't leave anything undone. Tim devours and experiments his world as well as others world. He intervenes with everything that is at his reach. " António Alves da Costa (Photographer)
