About The Artwork
Terminally ill in the ICU, wishing and thinking if I would be able to create compositions with texture and color, in my life again. I survived, and as soon I gained strength, I sat down working on this 3-panel mural. It was artistically challenging, but more so, physically, but I worked on it with patience and perseverance, creating a composition, which is visually overpowering for its rich color and texture, and rhythmic movement. I draw my inspiration from Islamic calligraphy, using characters, generally unreadable, to build my compositions. I attempt to imbed the unmatched splendor of traditional calligraphy in my contemporary paintings.
