About The Artwork

This work is so very deeply inspired by my love and appreciation of nature. I believe that we are living in "The Garden" and have been developing an ongoing series with abstract impressions of plants and garden imagery. Other plant references in my work are the lotus, seaweed and water plants. This work in particular was inspired by the late works of Monet where his brushwork became very open and playful. Doing a piece like this is good practice to remind me to keep my brushwork open and free of too much thought.

As an artist I participate in the re-enchantment by using my skills to readdress spiritual values, stories and messages. As a community we do this when we pray, sing and dance, yoga, raise a family, cook a meal, make a painting. To remind ourselves of our relationship within the creation we re-create the original creation story thru the ritual of repetition of our own every daylike a binding spell. When humans go far astray waves in the energy field become distorted. It reflects our movements and thus our cultures. Those of us who participate in the creation story weave back and heal the energy field. When I am painting I feel like Jacob wrestling with the angel and stuff is shooting out of me as I move around. Like threads that weave their way into something that makes up our physical space and then out where it is received by those of us who are receivers. Like a radioPainting is a way for me. It is my personal reality. It is how I express my love for humanity. And my disdain for it. And sometimes just to not be lonely. This is not an easy love. I am constantly disappointed. But I am always reminded by events that occur around me how deeply I am committed. What inspires me is when I look at something: from literature, a play or movie or even a conversation; and see the secret behind the veil. I see strange metaphors and patterns, and I think, oh yeah, look, I see that! When I speak these things out folks say, oh wow, I cant believe you saw that, I see it now too. I can share the gift of sight through my words and through my paintings. And so I paint.
