The inspiration for this was a white bird. The viewer might be pulled in by the typographic textures, the colours and the overlaid white abstract bird representing the ephemeral nature of our experiences. The medium used is a mix of pigments with different binders and markers.

Aimee Lecusay Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1970. Grew up in Miami, Fl. Education from MassArt - Boston, MA. Lives and works in Munich. Trained as a printmaker, Aime Lecusay began producing her work mainly on paper. The mixed disciplines of printmaking allowed for a wide range of discoveries and a fascination for the unexpected result. Combining etching, monoprint, drypoint and aquatint techniques laid the foundation on which Aime Lecusay would later transfer her works on paper onto canvas. Three main elements comprise the canvases. The first of these elements are the voluminous architectural shapes which represent both the beauty and vulnerability of the human condition. A poetic undercurrent of cohesive frailty and melancholy which is at constant risk of crumbling, only to escape a collapse by the support provided by an extension of itself. Color is the second fundamental element which Aime Lecusay manipulates to grab the viewer on an emotional level. The third of the main elements are the partly ephemeral written words along with clandestine figurative abstractions. By trying to decipher parts of the writing, the viewer is subconsciously enagaged in approaching the canvas, thereby establishing a deeper rapport with the artwork. A fusion of some urban and more fine art with the idea of the unconscious in mind best define Aime Lecusay‘s art. Having moved around from Caracas, Miami, Boston, Paris and Munich, her artwork manifests the multi-faceted exposure to different cultures and languages by being always exposed to something or someone new.
