I am interested in the gradations of color in nature. My unconventional brushwork has a looseness using the wheel that allows me to make the moving brushstrokes on the canvas. I am interested in the art of Joan Mitchell, who made painting with bold strokes using a brush. Like Joan, I am a skater, but unlike her I actually skate on the canvas using the rollerblade wheel as a tool for moving the paint quickly. My color choices are vivid and bright bringing joy and hope to a modern world. While chaos and peace are both reflected in my expressionism they juxtapose each other to reflect reality. I am an abstract painter making my own vision in paint based on my experiences observing nature and experimental tools. Here a sunset denoting lipstick color, seen in this culture, and a vision of a jetty are often seen here in Aruba. I love all the colors that give light and energy to a work of art made to last on thickly gessoed canvas and stretched and braced on strong wood to prevent warping.

Jean Cherouny's "physicality" with paint grew out of her competitive skiing and mountain biking careers. She sees painting as a way of believing. As an abstract artist, Jean believes in the body's ability to paint as a way of reflecting the techniques and extremes of her time. "I am in a wild game of emotion and energy that finds its paths and forms under my feet. The body reflects my greatest knowledge and spirit. It's the one thing I trust most to get me to where I am going, well, maybe that and wheels." Jean speaks.
