Rain Dance Painting

My work references modern predecessors of Op-art (South America and European), P&D Movement while placing a contemporary twist by combining color theory (politics of color), hardedge/geometric abstraction, elements of color field, graffiti/street art, and the digital. Influenced by Op Art, I have worked with abstract shapes and forms to confront the world around me. Optical transparency and mathematical geometry demand focus—yet require distraction at the same time. My work is a balance of harmony and chaos. A mirror of our times, it shows us who we are. For the colorful painting I wanted to play with intersecting lines that disrupted the center transparent circle. Once I drew the image onto the canvas I allowed my intuition and sense of color take over. I didn't have a set of rules or procedures to start with I simply laid down the first color and responded from there.
