This painting has a lot of texture. I'm inspired by mid-century design and style, Americana, atomic design of the 1950's, retro stuff and Western kitsch, and road trips. My paintings of neon signs are part documentary, part fantasy. Glamorized on their pedestals, these cherished icons evoke a collective romanticized memory. They are surrounded by the murky darkness of passing time, strangely abandoned, yet brilliantly alive.
