Atmospheric and textured Canalside oil painting. Painted sitting on the towpath beside the Canal at Kings Cross, this contemporary artwork is full of light and shade, rough and smooth. This quiet spot beside the bridge is just to the side of Granary Square, which is often full of vibrant people passing over to Central St Martins art school, enjoying the shops at Coal Drop Yard or taking time out for a lunch break. On the South side of the Canal all is quiet, however, and it is here where the fabulous 'book barge' is located, tucked into the shade of the bridge. Created using both brushwork and palette knife, and layers built up, revealing what lies beneath, this oil painting provides plenty of interest. This artwork is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Oil on canvas board. All artwork is carefully wrapped for shipping in a layer of tissue paper, foam board and recycled bubble wrap and place in a sturdy cardboard box.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
