About The Artwork

'She Crossed A River" is an original painting on deep canvas. It can be hung directly onto the wall, as it is 4cm deep. It can also be framed according to taste. I feel that this painting exudes joy. I knew I wanted to use orange as the main colour, and to let the marks and gestures be free and joyous. In making this choice, unusual marks appeared, like the criss cross in the middle of the painting. I love these unexpected outcomes, that develop my painting language. Viewers have seen an abstract landscape, a map, mountains, or the evening sky. I love the different interpretations that can be made. The orange colour skips, dances and shoots across the canvas. It is nestled in a beautiful soft pink hazy background, The title reflects this positivity. "She Crossed A River" as a metaphor for meeting challenges, and overcoming them. For me this painting is about positive energy. Pure joy : ) ** FYI THE IMAGES SHOWN FRAMED ARE A SUGGESTION ONLY, AND THE PAINTING COMES UNFRAMED - Thanku : ) **

Ele Pack received her degree from Loughborough College of Art. She now lives and works in the beautiful Peak District, in the UK. Her work has been exhibited by various UK galleries, and overseas in Germany, Sweden and the US. "I believe that visual language has a potent power, like music or literature. And it has the power to lift, communicate and transform. Using pattern and mark to create rhythm, I use a range of materials; paint, pencil, fabric, collage, metallics, and build up my paintings in a very organic way. I overlay layers of paint, mark and collage to build up the pictorial space. This creates glimpses, hidden spaces, things half_ shown, suggested. I use delicate layers of texture, drawing and colour to create an ambiguous space. The image is then worked and re_worked until the image is “found”. Only when a balance and integration is achieved I feel that the painting is finished. I like to think of them as “visual poems”. This sensual world is one to be absorbed, felt, and enjoyed. "
