About The Artwork

"Skating On This Ice" was unveiled at The Carter Sexton Gallery on Laurel Canyon, in North Hollywood, at The Holiday Art Show on Saturday, December 5th, 2015. It wasn't a good idea for me to put on my sister's white figure skates and go figure skating on the river. I should've gone to Dave's Grocery that day, paid a buck-three-eighty, and got a bottle of black kiwi shoe polish . . .but I didn't. Instead I went down to the rivah, close enough to where a group of tougher guys played hockey, in their black hockey skates. Perhaps it was the Glover brothers, maybe the Banks' brothers, or a mix of both. As I recall, I had just begun a figure eight, when they spotted me . . .
