This original painting is acrylic and spray paint on canvas and is a part of large portrait series that has been going on for some time and is continually evolving. This particular study was a part of a smaller series within the larger group of portraits where I explored painting the head with a combination of patterns and facial features mixed together to show an evolving, dynamic face in flux. My portraits are meant to be psychological studies of the head, and I use a combination of personal photographs and images I find online that speak to me for reference in painting these portraits.

I work in acrylic and spray paint but also screen printing and collage portraits from paper, found images, and film positives. I am mostly interested in painting the figure and using it as a central motif combined with a tapestry of realistic references, gestural abstraction, patterning, landscape elements, florals, and art history references.
