About The Artwork
Worked en plein air, this piece explores the light and sensation when facing due south in the location. The landscape takes on a silver light that reflects distance and colours merge on the far slopes. The painter explores composition and mark making to reflect the sensation of being in that space, to the point where the landscape can become a mirror, reflecting back emotion and response. Paint is allowed to react and become fliud, defining and redefining, balanced on the boundary between what is seen and what is felt. Glaze and impasto combine with mark making to produce a surface energised with rhythm and colour - Painting is SOLD.
