South Northam Head Painting

Inspired by my recent move to the South Coast of England, feelings of nostalgia for London and cautious optimism. I was listening to The Fall at the time. Working from studies, I began with coloured areas and then black was used to delineate the areas and forms. The emerging suggestions of forms were accentuated and solidified with the addition of more colour. Other areas were left unworked, as the image dictated. As a result, the texture is varied ranging from impasto to drawn-over wash. The pale, ghostly pinks and greys are challenged by emphatic reds and yellows. It is unmounted and hangings can be affixed if you wish.
