Original acrylic painting. All edges of this deep edge canvas are painted with a charcoal colour to act as a frame. A gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang with d-rings and wire. Sugar Glider, these little pocket possums are just too cute. Since these tree dwelling marsupials can glide half the length of a soccer pitch I wanted to portray that with a vast, deep in the bush, abstracted background; with a few little flecks of evening light coming through. That's where they naturally hide until it's time to glide through the canopy finding food. Adding in a little our Australian native flowering gums. I haven't yet observed them out in their natural habitat, but I have watched them in many of our zoo's in Australia, so small and cute. Adorable animal portraiture.

Andrea is a multi-award winning artist who has been published in National and International magazines. She's also been commissioned to create artworks for office spaces and many of her painting have been sold to collectors throughout Australia, Europe and USA. After leaving high school she attended College and University for visual art and design, understanding different techniques and studying the history of the Masters. Over the years she has painted murals in restaurants and kids bedrooms, created artworks to decorate office spaces in Sydney and Melbourne. Andrea sees inspiration all around her and her list is always expanding. But most of her artworks are centred around of her love and appreciation for nature, birds, insects, animals and plants. With nature she’s instantly drawn into the colours, textures and patterns. She then paints it as she envisage it through abstracts. With birds, insects, animals, plants and the occasional landscape she applies traditional fine art, carefully mapping out the artwork to make sure the perspective and ratios are correct. Mixing colours to match and understanding the direction of the light. Andrea also creates figurative surrealism artworks where her vision is to connect humanity more with nature in one artwork. Here she starts with a mood board and plays around with colour combinations before mapping it out on canvas. “I see beauty all around me in nature and understand there is a purpose to every living organism. The human connection, care and respect for these is vital to the survival of mankind.”
