This painting is a continuation of a current series of paintings inspired by my trip to the Georgia aquarium including its colors, light, energy, and dynamic range of scale between the tiny fish and the great sharks and whales.

I seek to generate energy within the composition by contrasting brush marks and splatters, warm and cool colors layered within a light colored background, and the elliptical motion generated by the sum of the tiny marks.

I hope this painting makes the viewer feel happy and engaged when looking into this work.

Acrylic, charcoal pencil, and india ink were all used in the development of this work as a means of creating variety as each medium brings a unique quality to the surface and interacts well with one another.

According to Saatchi rules, this painting is too large to ship in a box, so the canvas will have to be removed gently from its wooden stretcher frame, dismantled, and shipped in a tube. Upon arrival, it will have to be reassembled and stapled to be hung. Shipping the painting via freight might be an option if you contact me directly at Stephenlursen@gmail.com before making the purchase.
