About The Artwork

To that recent falling rain at Greenland ice summit for the first time on record. This series was initially inspired by retro wallpaper patterns as a paradoxical response to biophilia (human’s desire to be near nature) through using the artificial to heal longings for the real. The green plant here symbolizes nature, vitality and endurance. The pot-like imagery representing human impact looks awkward and discordant regarding to its connection with the plant. As a metaphor of technological supremacy, the sci-fi-like background is processed as color blocks without any sign of life, even without shadows of the plant. In the form of a eulogy to all the house plants we’ve killed, each plant portrait here is a reflection on the ambivalent relationship among human, nature and technology.
