About The Artwork
I love 2 paintings which I reference often in some of my paintings. One is Grace Hartigan's Grand Street Brides and the other is Diego Velazquez's Las Meninas. This painting looks very different from either painting but has in some ways similar subject matter. The black and white contrasts create an interesting composition with the repeat brides, her alter ego in black, and the touches of red in the bouquets and apple.

Growing up in Punta Gorda, Florida where everything was on the water, water skiing, swimming, fishing and most of the streets are still made of brick, my childhood was a very happy one with no shortage of friends in our neighborhood.. My expressive subjects are primarily figures and abstracts as well as interiors, landscapes and still lifes. I love combining vibrant colors with a rhythmical movement in my compositions
